Gordon G. Nidiffer, MD, a native of Johnson City, TN went to be with the Lord on August 21, 2024 in Sarasota, FL, at the age of 85. He was the only child of Earl and Lucille Nidiffer of Johnson City, TN. Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Rebecca Bacon Nidiffer, his beautiful daughter, Kirsten N. Williams (Chuck), Newnan,GA, and granddaughter, Morgan Williams whom he adored; his sisters-in-law Phyllis Brumit and Joan Humphreys of Johnson City, TN, nephew, several nieces, cousins, and many friends.
Gordon graduated from Science Hill High School and East Tennessee State University where he ran track and played basketball on the varsity teams. Receiving a medical degree in Gynecology from the University of Tennessee-Memphis, Gordon completed his residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA. He joined the U.S. Air Force as a physician and resided in Iracklion, Crete where he and Becky traveled extensively.
After the military and moving to Leesburg, VA Gordon established his clinic and was in private practice for many years before moving to Sarasota, FL. In Sarasota, Gordon served as Commodore of The Field Club where they have been members since 1985. During this time, he also practiced medicine in Boca Grande and Sarasota until his retirement in 2016.
Gordon had a kind and gentle spirit, he was a devoted husband and father, he lived a life of service to his patients he will be sorely missed.
A celebration of his life will be held at The Field Club on Saturday, January 25 at 2 p.m.
